Animator, Dominic Osbourne, tackles disability and obesity subject –

Fat Man Jim storyboardLights! Action! But can ‘stop frame’ ever be seen as ‘action’ in the face of live footage? What is animation all about?

When Dominic Osbourne filmed the animated short, “Fat Man Jim” with us for a Grant Fund pitch to the British Film Institute (BFI), he had not reckoned on the slowness of “action” needed in stop frame animation nor on the continual take and re-take of footage ever experimenting on ‘style’.

If we could get everyone who comes to see us with highly animated thoughts, to pre-realise the time and effort needed to produce their fluid dreams, we’d probably be a little quieter! Projects that really ‘sing’ do need the hours of input and dedicated effort, whether you are producing your own animation film or shouting about how great you are!

Energy is the key and that’s why it is always vital to reach goals through a mix of hard work and relaxed re-charging of batteries. Busy people are usually busy at work and then busy again at home so the idea of chilling out the system between heavy bouts of activity remains “just a good idea” and hard to achieve.

At the ‘HoBB Project House and Gardens’, the chill-out time is part of the action and it’s working.

Update News : ‘Fat Man Jim’ didn’t get its BFI grant funding (Hmmmm!) so we’re back on the look out. If you have some funds available or know of some in need of a great little educational, humourous and entertaining short animation about disabilities and obesity, make contact.

Self Bespoke Thinking – A few good reasons to design the way you think.

bespoke artThere are a few tests that help establish “who rules” in your brain department but whatever test is taken, most people are astonished they are not in one hundred percent control! The way you think creates the world you live.

If each of us knew ourselves it would be a good start to gaining control but this takes time and effort and it is not in the interests of society for us all to ‘self-control’ [ Expressions like “Too many shepherds and not enough sheep” spring to mind ]

Some raw aspects of “self” show themselves when under stress or when in new circumstances where previous experiences and learned responses cannot rush to the rescue. These stress bits are OK in part but they can build up, cloud your clear thought and divert or block your energy .

It is all totally natural.
Naturally, through the journey of survival, the most stressful situation is being threatened by some creature that wants to kill you for its ‘dinner’. Historically, we would all immediately fight or run away and not linger! In these situations, our mind stimulates the body to secrete lots of chemicals and hormones (e.g. adrenaline, cortisone and sugars) all useful in taking whatever fast action is demanded.

Then, after the fight or run away (flight) situation, all these chemicals would naturally be used up, and we would historically, have had a rest. THIS is nature at work.

However, today, too many keep their stress levels up by lingering over a long period, seeking the best possible convenient outcome to stressing situations, thus the hormonal secretions and other normally useful chemicals start to accumulate in our bodies and have a negative effect. Negatives gradually accumulate, and over time they colour our psyche, entrap our free-thought by hampering our decisiveness and creative capabilities – we become tense and less able to think clearly.

If not addressed, this can manifest in headaches or almost any medical condition. Formed from anxiety, worry and fear, diseases like gastric ulcer, hypertension and heart problems may ensue if these emotional stresses are allowed to persist. In fact, all medical conditions have an underlying cause – negativity accumulates differently in each individual.

Your mind helps to form the journey of your lifetime and this includes the good and the bad.

A stressed mind, badly shaken by unhelpful emotive energies, becomes unfocused and one finds it difficult to think clearly.

Conversely, if a person thinks optimistically, they activate life around them positively, thereby motivating desire to re-focus and address negative fields of energy.

Do its
* Re-learn how to focus more positively –’fight or flight’ being only a part of our psyche.

* Protect yourself from negative outside forces and your own destructive attitudes.

* Don’t bottle up feelings as this only creates more problems.

* Use the power of your mind to evolve things you must experience.

By releasing unhealthy emotional blocks you can experience the freedom to enjoy life to its fullest and become the person you’ve always wanted to be.
